Hoosiers are hurting right now.

Indiana’s monopoly utilities have enacted some of the most severe electric bill hikes in 20 years—with some families paying nearly $50 more a month than just one year ago.

And yet, instead of focusing on helping Hoosiers, Gov. Mike Braun is calling for expensive coal, gas and nuclear energy to boost the state’s power supply.

What’s missing?

Braun is ignoring the lowest-cost, fastest-to-market energy sources available. Instead, he’s embracing a “build at all costs” approach that benefits utilities and polluters—not ratepayers footing the bill.

The Braun Administration wants to greenlight massive energy projects without meaningful public input or transparency, pushing Indiana toward a future of higher energy bills and fewer consumer protections.

It’s not just Indiana. Across the country, electric bills are going up—driven by the rollback of clean energy tax credits and a fossil fuel resurgence that’s leaving working families behind. Indiana should be a leader in clean, affordable, reliable energy—not a cautionary tale.
